Message: Choices That Lead to Christmas
Thanksgiving and Prayer Requests
? This week Pastor Ken Driedger will be working from Elmira on Wednesday and Thursday. He will be back in town and on duty on January 2-4.
? From the Finance Committee: Our donations are under budget by $ 5,000.00. Please consider additional giving before the end of the year. Thank you.
? Canadian Mennonite digital delivery: As a Canadian Mennonite subscriber you can receive the latest issue of the magazine by e-mail on the day it is printed; up to two weeks before the paper mail will arrive. To add digital delivery to your subscription, or to switch to digital-only, please email email@example.com and include your name, address and subscription number (see your mailing label; it begins with an A).
? Here are two ways to give in our community this Christmas season:
- Buy a gift card at a grocery or drug store, place it in an envelope that is provided beside the Christmas tree in the sanctuary, and place it on the tree. These will be shared with our refugee families as they are needed.
- Donate winter clothing/covers for the homeless “ Out of the cold” program.
WIDEMAN MENNONITE CHURCH EVENTS
? Sunday December 31 will be a Testimony Sunday! Come prepared to tell how God has been at work in your life in 2017 through stories, scripture or songs!
? Sunday School will resume on January 7, after the holiday season.
? We’ve heard a lot in the news lately about sexual harassment and assault. But how is it defined? What is at stake? And what can we, as the people of Jesus, contribute to the discussion? What can we do to protect vulnerable people? Maybe you have other questions. On January 7, Ken Driedger will lead some conversation and prayer about these things during the Sunday School hour.
? The youth are going on a service trip over March Break to Clear Lake, California to rebuild houses after a devastating fire in 2015. There will be 3 fundraising soup lunches coming up. The first one is at Community Mennonite Church on January 14. The second one is at Wideman Mennonite Church on February 4 and the third one will be at Rouge Valley Mennonite on February 25. We hope you can attend one or all of the soup lunches and help support the youth on this trip.
