Announcements

This week Pastor Ken Driedger will be on duty from Monday through Friday. but Thursday morning he will be in a meeting in Kitchener and that afternoon and Friday he be working from Elmira.

The MYF and sponsors would like to say thanks for all of your generous donations at Soup Lunches, cookies and odd jobs. With your help we have almost reached our goal. We leave on Saturday for our week in California with MDS, rebuilding homes after the forest fire. Please keep us in your prayers.

Canadian Mennonite subscriptions:  All who attend Wideman Mennonite Church may receive a subscription to Canadian Mennonite. The biweekly magazine is delivered in print, by email, or both. Subscriptions are paid for collectively through Mennonite Church Eastern Canada . To start a new subscription, add digital delivery to an existing print subscription, or switch to digital-only, please contact the church office. We will submit our congregation’s subscription list by March 16.

Mennonite Disaster Service Update on the Grand River and Thames River Flooding – 6 March 2018:  At this point MDS ON offers for flood relief assistance has been declined by the municipalities affected, including Brantford and Chatham-Kent. The MDS Unit will continue to monitor the recovery progress.

MDS Flood Recovery Update from the 2017 Ottawa River Flooding: It is nearly a year since the Ottawa River flooding. MDS responded in Constance Bay (Municipality of Ottawa) with cleanup last May, then repair in Sep, and then were asked to consider rebuilding 2 new homes that had been condemned due to the flooding. This rebuild project of 2 homes has been taken on by our conservative Mennonite constituency (Markham-Waterloo, Old Order and Orthodox Mennonite), starting in mid Dec and expecting the house dedications to take place later in Apr 2018. We are grateful for God’s leading and blessing for these volunteers. More details coming in the Spring MDS ON Newsletter.
