Please be in prayer for Luke Martin (Maison de l’amitié executive director) as he and the Martin family grieve the death of his father, Tilman Martin who passed away last night. Luke has shared that there will be a funeral for his father in the spring, as well as a memorial service in Kitchener, ON in the spring. More details will be available in January. Tilman was a retired MCEC pastor. He was ordained in July 1956. He served as assistant pastor at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church in 1952, pastor at Waters Mennonite Church from 1954-55 and missionary pastor at Église évangélique mennonite de Montréal-Nord, which was the first Anabaptist/Mennonite church established in Quebec, Canada. He and his wife, Janet Martin, (along with Harold and Pauline Reesor) were pioneer missionaries in Quebec, sent by the Mennonite Board of Missions and later the Mennonite Mission Board of Ontario. For a more detailed remembrance of Tilman’s ministry, please revisit this Canadian Mennonite article written in 2017. You can reach Luke and the Martin family at luke.martin@maisondelamitie.ca.

LOOKING AHEAD – WIDEMAN MENNONITE CHURCH EVENTS

What Can’t Wait?  We know Advent to be a season of waiting, but is idle and passive waiting what God wants of us? To prepare to celebrate the coming of the Messiah, we will ponder together what things can’t wait.  What are the things that demand our immediate attention? What things call us to work and prepare? What can’t God wait for? Does He wait for our praise, reconciliation, and our sharing His Good News? Does He wait for the end of suffering, loneliness, and fear? This Advent, join us in imagining, and preparing for the celebration!  As we wait, what can’t?
