We would like to remind you that ALPHA begins again this fall in less than 3 weeks! Alpha will run from 6:30pm-9:00pm Thursday evenings September 26th through November 28th at Eastridge Missionary Church. If you are unfamiliar with ALPHA – it is a program designed to be a comfortable introduction and discussion of the Christian faith that anyone could bring a friend to. The evenings consist of a supper, a video presentation of a topic/aspect of the Christian faith, and discussion with a small table group (a group that you ate dinner with).
LOOKING AHEAD – WIDEMAN MENNONITE CHURCH EVENTS
Tuesday, Sept 17 (9AM-2PM): WMCEC. Join us at sewing circle to quilt and tie comforters. Men and women are welcome. Bring your lunch. Beverage will be provided.
Saturday, Sept 21: Toronto Mennonite Festival , 10-4pm. Black Creek Pioneer Village . If you would like to volunteer for this event, please talk to Milissa.
Saturday, October 26: For the Children Birthday Auction in the WMC Basement.
5:30-Dinner. Auction starts at 7pm.
Friday, Nov 1 at 6:30pm: Small Group. Location TBD
Saturday, Nov 9 (8-10am): Ladies’ breakfast in the Church Basement. Details to follow .
Saturday, Nov 16 (8-10am): Men’s Breakfast in the Church Basement . Details to follow .
LOOKING AHEAD – MENNONITE COMMUNITY EVENTS
Wednesday, September 25, 7:30 p.m.: Markham Inter-Church Committee for Affordable Housing (MICAH) is having its AGM at 20 Water Street in Markham. Come and hear about the progress of our current housing project that is now under construction.
Thursday Sept 26 at 6:30 PM: The Hagerman Mennonite Church will lead an ALPHA program beginning at the church at 4581 14th Ave, Markham. The ALPHA program has generally three parts: a meal together, a video looking at topics of interest to a seeker followed by a discussion and questions from participants. This will continue for 11 Thursday evenings. If you would like to bring a seeker friend they are welcome. More information about ALPHA can be found at the ALPHA Canada website.
Saturday, October 5 at 2PM: Expanding Our View of Cemeteries: Places of Tradition, Ritual, Stories & Community” at Mannheim Mennonite Church. Join the Mennonite Historical Society of Ontario to hear Marion Roes and Matthew Bailey-Dick speak about their unique projects that explore Mennonite funeral and burial traditions, and how cemeteries can be places of learning. More information at www.mhso.org.
